Tiffany Wilson’s Sweet, Soulful Songs at C’mon Everybody
Brooklyn Roads visited the cozy Clinton Hill venue C’mon Everybody on April 19, 2018, to see Tiffany Wilson play her sweet, soulful, folk tunes accompanied by Carlos Feitoza (bass), Stefano Di Blasio (guitar), and Tom MacLean (drums). Nestled away near Pratt Institute, C’mon Everybody drew a mostly young, student crowd to the evening’s entertainment.
The Newcomers Club opened the evening of singer/songwriters followed by two of Brooklyn Roads’ own featured artists, Mikhal and Ella Joy Mier of Iris Lune, who teamed up as a duet for the first time.
When Tiffany Wilson came on stage, the audience was chattering inside the bar, but the captivating power of her angelic voice during her warm-up quickly silenced the room. Wilson kicked off her set with “Gone Girl,” a slow, rock ballad reminiscent of other great songwriters such as James Taylor or Brooklyn icon Carole King.
The indie soul singer performed songs from her inspirational EP, 818, named for the house number of the apartment in which she recorded it. Wilson transitioned from an electric guitar to a gorgeous acoustic one for her next song, “Heart Strings,” which took a turn toward the blues.
From this small, dirty-blonde singer explodes a massive voice, and she makes it look easy. Tiffany Wilson’s talent is obvious from the broad range of her voice and styles. “Honey Pie” sounds like a cross between Feist, Foo Fighters and Lianne Lahavas.
The night was filled with songs about activism, community and love. If you’re interested in listening to any of these artists, you can find them on Salome Art Haus, Spotify…or roaming around Bed-Stuy.
