New Music From Brooklyn Artists: Summer 2025
A number of artists based in Brooklyn or with strong ties to our borough have recently released or are currently working on new music. Here’s a sampling, covering several genres.
Dirty Projectors’ Song of the Earth, their first new studio album in seven years, is a 24-track song cycle in collaboration with Berlin-based chamber orchestra Stargaze. The album’s title and many of its themes are inspired by classical composer Gustav Mahler.
Barbra Streisand’s latest, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, consists of 11 collaborations with such varied artists as Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Sam Smith, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
“Not Mine: To Hold” is the new single from Brooklyn expat Meghan Pulles, available on all streaming platforms. The emo-positive singer-songwriter is currently based in Nashville but returns to Brooklyn often, most recently performing at Brooklyn Music Kitchen last month.
Soul singer Johnny Burgos issued “Look at You,” the follow-up single to “Caught Up,” on August 5. Both songs will be featured on his upcoming album, A Long Short Story.
Americana artist Jon LaDeau will debut his fifth album, Chateau LaDeau, with a release show at Jalopy Theater on August 22.
Indie band Big Thief’s new album, Double Infinity, is set to drop on September 5th. Earlier this summer the group released a video of one of the tracks, “Incomprehensible.”
Elizabeth Ziman, who performs as Elizabeth and the Catapult, is working on her sixth album, titled I Love You Still, set for release in early 2026. Fans may catch a sample of some of the album’s songs at her Jalopy show on August 24.
Flatbush-based singer-songwriter Carolann Solebello says she has completed all the vocal, guitar, and bass tracks for her forthcoming album, which is being produced by Ditmas Park musician Katherine Etzel (Bobtown).
Greenpoint band American Nomads are putting the finishing touches on Shoes Shined, the companion album to 2024’s Hats Cleaned. Though released separately, they comprise what the band conceived as a double album.
