After over 40 years, Left for Dead Reords has re-released Brooklyn-based teen-punk band NastyFacts 1980 hit EP,  Drive My Car.  While they had more than an album’s worth of songs at their peak in the 80s, the only recorded project of theirs was Drive My Car.

The then teenage band were an integral part of the Brooklyn teen-punk scene. Band members consisted of Kali Boyce (nee Cherl Boyze) on bass and lead vocals, gui-tarists Brad Craig and Jeff “Range” Tischler, and  Genji “Searizak” Siraisi on drums.

While students at St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn, the band gained traction playing amateur nights at CBGBs and then regular slots at Max’s Kansas City and other venues.

All tracks on the EP are still ever punchy and hardcore punk rock, originally a look into the future of what teenage punk and rock songs would become in the early aughts with bands like Paramore, My Chemical Romance, and more.
The title track on the EP, “Drive My Car” seems well ahead of its time in its makeup, with its incredible power in the guitar, just loud enough to stand out, yet not overpowering.

Track number two, “Crazy ‘bout You” feels as if it has not aged at all, as the electric guitar shreds away and gives the truest depiction of teenage angst blend with the maturest electric guitar riffs.

The drums kick away on every track, with the animalistic and free tempos. To stay still as the drums converge with the heavy base seems rather impossible.

Track three, “Get To You,” which starts off as the most vocal-heavy of the three, seems like a typical teenage anthem that might have had fans in a frenzy upon its initial release.

A highlight of this re-release is its’ exposure to a new generation of listeners, where the sounds of NastyFacts have the potential to live on in the ears of teens today with their AirPods and Beats by Dre headphones.  The now highly collectable Drive My Car  EP  is available in deluxe 12-inch vinyl and CD.
