The goth-folk band, first formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris, continue on this album what has become a signature sound, their spooky-sounding influences radiating the loudest in tracks like “Bat Song” and “Grimoire.”

Self describing the album as “a musical cabinet of curiosities, featuring songs inspired by both the natural world and the metaphysical realm,” the band has collectively filtered their sounds from previous travels as well as gifts from fans into the magical experience that is the album.

Tracks that stand out on the album include “Hellebore” and “Monsters.” In “Hellebore”, a seamlessly gradual flow through different tempos and instrumental additions create the true essence of what a listening experience should be. To reflect back to the nature theme of the album, this track emits the feeling of a trek through the deepest of woodland.

In the track “Manta Rays,” the band steps into an educator role with their listeners, as a spoken word piece with facts of the fabulous aquatic mammal grace your ears. You are bound to learn a thing or two after listening to this track, yet also be left with more curiosity for the animal.

Strictly keeping in tune with the themes of nature and its beauty, “Mold and the Metals,” offers what are arguably the most easy going melodies on the album. They are able to create entrancing sounds that make it that much easier to listen in.

The cover art for the album ties every piece aspect together, as its design takes you through yet another journey into the woods and forests. It becomes a story in itself as commonly found pieces from nature are pieced together to create the letters spelling out the title.

Along with the album, Charming Disaster will be releasing what they call an “Oracle” deck of cards, similar to that of Tarot cards. The connection to the cards is a long standing tradition for the band, as they have used Tarot cards to

determine the course of live performances.

Charming Disaster does an excellent job once again in keeping the magic and mystery of their music alive. Between mystifying melodies, creative lyrics  and overall excitement as each new track begins, this musical duo is very successful at setting the scene and mood for listeners.

The release of the album on March 3 will be available on all platforms, as well as CD and 12-inch vinyl LP. Take a listen if you’re up for a magical adventure!
