An Inside View Of Sea.Hear.Now 2024!
Sea .Hear. Now is an annual music art and ocean sustainability festival held in mid September on and around the beach and boardwalk in Asbury Park, NJ.
It’s more than music, as there are activities you can check out , such as a surf contest on both days. A fan favorite is Sea. Hear. Now’s co-producer’s Danny Clinch ‘s Transparent Gallery ,which includes some very cool art by various Sea.Here.Now artists. The art on the beach is always great to check out between the jellyfish and the surfboard arch they make for some fun photo options. My personal favorite this year was the amazing art from NJ native John J Ward.
Day Two was another chance to soak in the gorgeous local summer weather. Kool and the Gang on the Surf Stage really got everyone dancing to their classics like “Ladies night “. Brooklyn’s Norah Jones took to the Park Stage with her smooth voice and drew a crowd. Trey Anastasio of Phish was the first to invite Bruce Springsteen on stage. Trey mentioned that he is from NJ and his first concert was Bruce; they played “Kitty’s back”. NJ’s Gaslight Anthem had Bruce on stage for their first 2 songs. It was cool to see their fan base didn’t leave as soon as Bruce did and they put on a great show.
The Sunday night finale was none other than the man lovingly referred to as “THE BOSS”. I have a friend who I sometimes call boss and he always says “there is only one boss and that is Bruce Springsteen”. It always puts a smile on my face. The Boss certainly put a huge smile on every face at Sea.Hear.Now when he went on to play for over 3 hours; In his words : ” ’cause down the shore everything’s alright” .
